Eldorado Emerson offers a variety of dynamic and creative summer school activities, designed to enhance students’ learning experiences. Classes in the arts, sciences, languages and more support emotional and social well-being, as well as develop their interpersonal and communication skills. Interesting topics, small classes, and engaged faculty create the right atmosphere where learning and fun come together. Students are able to participate in a variety of age-appropriate activities.
Summer Program Highlights
In the 3D Printing Class, students will learn the basics of computer-aided design in Sketchup (a free program). We will also learn how the 3D printer works. By the end of the term, each student will print a 3D part that they designed.
Students will learn about organic, sustainable, seasonal gardening methods. They will plant, weed, water, harvest, and cook with the produce we grow in the pre-k and playground garden. Older students (school age) will mentor younger (pre-k) and they will create their own gardening journals planning out what to grow year round. At the end of the session, students will create a Cookbook showcasing their recipes and what they have learned and shared with the International Edible Schoolyard Network!
The Edible Schoolyard Network connects educators around the world to build and share a K-12 edible education curriculum. Students will join the edible schoolyard project, putting Eldorado Emerson on the map: http://edibleschoolyard.org/network
Learn the basics or intermediate level of conversational Mandarin and basic writing or characters.
